Are We More Connected Than Ever, or More Alone?

People today are more connected than ever – yet more lonely than ever before. Maybe the problem is not that people can no longer find love.
Maybe they no longer recognize it when it appears.

In the age of social media and dating apps, millions still struggle to find genuine connection.

How is it possible that in a world where we can reach anyone instantly, so many people still feel deeply alone?

According to Kabbalistic understanding, in higher spiritual realms the soul exists as one complete essence – masculine and feminine united together.

Thirty days before the soul descends into the physical world, it is described as separating into two parts: masculine and feminine.

Sometimes the masculine aspect descends first, sometimes the feminine. At times, both enter different physical lives.

According to this perspective, these two parts are ultimately meant to reunite in the physical world through love and partnership, reflecting their original unity in the spiritual realm.

This is what many refer to as a “soulmate.” But modern society has transformed relationships into something very different.

Today, people search through endless checklists: beauty, status, wealth, perfection. And as time passes, expectations only grow.

But a soulmate is not created according to a checklist. A true soul connection is not conditional.

Sometimes the person most deeply aligned with your soul may not appear in the form your imagination created. Because true connection is not only material – it is emotional and spiritual.

Many people are no longer searching for connection.

They are searching for perfection.

And while chasing an illusion, they slowly lose the ability to recognize real love when it appears. Sometimes the soul recognizes what the eyes cannot yet see.

Modern society has created unprecedented connection – but also emotional distance. People communicate constantly through screens, yet many no longer know how to truly connect face to face.

I once knew someone who spent years searching for “the perfect woman.” Every time he met someone meaningful, he kept searching for something more – someone younger, more attractive, more ideal.

Years passed.

Today, he is in his forties and still searching, yet unable to find peace. The issue was never the women he met. It was the belief that somewhere out there, perfection exists.

But perfection does not exist.

Not in relationships.

Not in people.

And not within ourselves.

Sometimes, the endless search for perfection becomes the very reason people remain alone. Perhaps real love begins the moment we stop searching for external perfection and start listening to what the soul feels within.

Sometimes what separates people is not distance, but the inability to see beyond the surface.

And the question remains:

Is the modern world truly bringing people closer together – or separating souls that were once meant to meet?
